Margaret Mitchell of Gone with the Wind, once said, “Death, taxes, and childbirth! There’s never any convenient time for any of them.” We had been looking for a convenient time to sit down with a tax professional and now that the busiest time of tax season has passed; we’re thankful for that opportunity.
This month, we chat with Sandra Schultz and discuss her business, her passions, what she does to have fun and why she chose My Annapolis Office.
Tell us about your company and what you do?
Sandra E Schultz CPA is an accounting firm dedicated to providing professional, personalized services to small business owners and individuals. We provide tax preparation to individuals and businesses, business consulting and accounting solutions. For business owners, we offer the role of an experienced and trusted advisor on issues of critical importance to your business: finance, operations, and profit planning.
How did you get started in your industry?
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Salisbury University in 1992. After graduation, I gained valuable experience working as the accounting manager of an international company located in Virginia. Upon passing the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam in 1994, I joined my father, Ted Schultz, in his firm Schultz and Company, Inc. and began practicing in public accounting in Annapolis, Maryland.
What is something about your business that most people do not know?
There is much more to an accountant than just preparation of tax returns. There is great value in having that trusted advisor to help with various decisions and life-changing events, such as the birth of a child, starting or buying a business, purchasing a new home, inheritance, retirement, selling a business. I have enjoyed developing relationships with my clients for the last twenty-five years and helping them with both their success as well as their struggles along the way.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
I hope to continue serving small business owners and individuals in the Annapolis area with their various tax and accounting needs.
Tell me about yourself?
I have been a lifelong resident of the Annapolis area and love being part of this community. I live in Annapolis with my husband and we have 5 children.
Other than work, what are you passionate about?
In addition to my practice, I have been involved in the community serving the Maryland Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation, Annapolis Jaycees, Lupus Foundation of America, and serve as the treasurer of my church.
What types of activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, traveling, hiking and being outdoors.
Why did you choose My Annapolis Office and how has that helped your business?
I chose My Annapolis Office because a virtual office fits my needs for my business. I love the professional atmosphere and the receptionist assistance for my clients when I am not in the office. It has been a perfect solution for my practice.
