At My Annapolis Office, we consider ourselves lucky to have such an amazing community of members. Each month we have the pleasure of interviewing one of those great people and their business so that everyone has a chance to learn more about those within our community. This month we were able to speak with both Ashley Johnson and Brittany Worthy of Comfort Keepers. Take a look below to learn more:
Tell us about your company and what you do?
Comfort Keepers of Annapolis provides quality and unique in home care services to older adults who want to remain living independently at home. We strive to offer our clients exceptional care as well as help them to achieve the highest level of independent living possible. We believe our unique interactive home health care services offers a level of independent living that ensures the highest possible quality of life for our seniors. Each of our clients are like a part of our own family and we are dedicated to giving them the respect and dignity they deserve and we would want for our own loved ones.
How did you get started in your industry?
Ashley grew up with lots of grandparents, who aged very differently and had unique needs. She began to blend her passion with helping people with this age population who are often left vulnerable. She takes great pride in being an advocate for great care. Prior to working for Comfort Keepers, she was the Lead Community Health Worker at Maryland Primary Care Program and the Program Coordinator for a local non-profit serving older adults in Anne Arundel County. Ashley graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a Masters in Management of Aging Services. She is certified in Mental Health First Aid, First-Aid and CPR. She brings several years of experience from working in the human services and aging field.
Brittany comes from working with vulnerable populations within a state ran program. She’s able to identify needs and use empathy to help create a life full of joy and purpose. After working closely with her great-grandmother’s live-in caregiver, Brittany became aware of the needs of the industry and wanted to make a positive difference. She chose Comfort Keepers because of our dedication to our clients, and the environment we provided for our team members to grow as caregivers and as individuals.
What is something about your business that most people do not know?
Care is more than a task, it’s an act of providing joy and elevating the human spirit. In addition to the services we offer to clients, we also offer supportive services for families who care for their loved ones on their own. We offer both respite care and end of life services designed to help family caregivers betting balances the demands caring for their loved one has placed on them.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
Thriving and continuing to help seniors live a quality life at home.
Tell me about yourself?
Brittany uses her Psychology degree to help facilitate quality service delivery to many residents in Anne Arundel County. She is a home care hero for both our caregivers and the seniors we serve. Each week she checks in to ensure everyone is happy, as well as having their needs met.
Ashley uses her Human Services degree to connect with families with unique needs to help identify best practices for development of care plans. Using her close ties to the community she is able to assist with overcoming barriers that often get in the way of achieving quality of life. She is committed to providing the best coordination of needs and resources for older adults in her community.
Other than work, what are you passionate about?
Social justice and the empowerment of African-American women, family, and self-care.
What types of activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
We both enjoy going to the beach, traveling, and volunteering in the community.
What is your favorite place to eat in Annapolis? Favorite dish there?
Mikes Crab House and Main & Market are two of our favorites.
