This month we had the priviledge of speaking with one of our newest members, Michael Rosofsky, of Law Offices of Michael S. Rosofsky. Michael works diligently for his clients and is striving to accomplish even more. Take a look to learn more not only about Michael, but his company as well.
Tell us about your company and what you do?
Law Offices of Michael S. Rosofsky is a general practice law firm that focuses on business law, family law, criminal defense, and personal injury litigation.
How did you get started in your industry?
I started as paid law clerk as a 19-year-old sophomore at the University of Maryland, College Park. I worked for a small law firm until I graduated with a B.A. in economics in 1986 and started at George Washington University law school in 1986. I studied international law in Shanghai, China in the Summer of 1987. In 1989, my partner and I won the Van Vleck Constitutional Moot Court competition and one of the federal judges, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, was elevated to the U.S. Supreme Court a few years later.
After working in commercial and residential real estate and working for a two law firms, I started my own practice in Baltimore City and County in 1992 and a started a title company in 1995. I practiced law from my own business for 15 years. I was employed to handle complex litigation for the Law Office’s for Peter Angelos for 7 years. I opened an office in Towson, Maryland in 2014 and moved to Arnold, Maryland in 2017 and opened an office. In 2020, I expanded to a second office in Annapolis, Maryland.
What is something about your business that most people do not know?
In addition to being a relentless litigator, I also perform estate litigation, real estate litigation, and appellate litigation. I also have experience with aviation litigation and environmental contamination litigation. I am admitted to practice law in M.D., D.C., P.A. and USVI. Currently, I am active in MD and D.C.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
I hope to hire excellent support staff, including attorneys, and continue to obtain excellent results for my clients.
Tell me about yourself?
I have two kids. My oldest son is finishing up his PhD. in physics at the University of Illinois and my younger son is finishing his second year toward a doctorate in physical therapy at the University of Maryland.
Other than work, what are you passionate about?
I enjoyed high school and college wrestling. I was a head wrestling coach at Towson High School for 2 years and an assistant 1 year. I coached two of Towson’s High School first MD State Champion during that period.
What types of activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my sons and my girlfriend and enjoy watching NFL football. I keep very up to date on news and politics and my hobby is mastering apple computers. I’ve had an apple computer since 1986.
What is your favorite place to eat in Annapolis? Favorite dish there?
Pusser’s painkiller is my favorite dish.
Why did you choose My Annapolis Office and how has working here helped your business?
My Annapolis Office offers the amenities and conference rooms in addition to my own office. I opened my office here in November and the pandemic has gotten worse so I’m busy working with my existing clients and referrals from my Arnold office. It is my hope to meet more people and network at My Annapolis Office when the health crisis in satisfactorily resolved.
