About Monica:
Highly dedicated, passionate, and transformation-driven, Monica James is a spearheading healthcare Entrepreneur with an underlying mission to support individuals and families in obtaining the quality life they deserve. As the Founder and Owner of Lilly’s Place, a community based Assisted Living Facility which provides an environment that promotes and supports independence, purpose, and dignity for individuals who are disabled, seniors, or placed in hospice care. Monica has demonstrated her ardency for helping others and enjoys every moment of raising the healthcare standards bar.
Growing up, Monica was raised by her great grandmother and had strong family values, loyalty, commitment, and resilience instilled in her at a young age. These core traits are what have helped her overcome hardships in life, going from a teen mom who was struggling to survive to the successful, inspirational person she is today. Furthermore, from working in corporate America for over 14 years to establishing Lilly’s Place that was birthed out of the love that her great grandmother showed her, Monica showcases that even with humble beginnings, anyone can build a wonderful future for themselves and live the life they have always dreamed of.
In the end, nothing makes Monica happier than being a valuable resource for others to succeed. She built her business on a foundation of self-development, motivation, and revitalization, and has become an influential leader who is actively manifesting the narrative for assisted living homes. However, when she is not working or empowering others to chase their passions, you can find her spending time with her family, enjoying arts and crafts, traveling, and volunteering at local shelters.
Tell us about your company and what you do?
Lilly’s Place is a community base assisted living facility. Our mission is to provide an environment that promotes and supports independence, purpose, and dignity. Enriching the lives of those we serve with compassion, respect, excellence, and integrity of our residents, and improving quality of life through uniting with families and staff.
How did you get started in your industry?
I worked as a CNA/GNA when I graduated from high school, then went on to become a home health aide. Life happened, and I changed industries and began working in Corporate America. My heart was always in healthcare and working with the elderly, so in 2018 I started my Journey with opening Lilly’s Place.
What is something about your business that most people do not know?
Lilly’s Place was named after my great grandmother Lillian, who raised me. My great grandmother loved me unconditionally and took care me until she became ill. To honor her I formed Lilly’s Place, “A Place of love”.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
I see an additional 6 Lilly’s Places throughout Anne Arundel County communities.
