Things To Do Around Annapolis
With the city’s gorgeous waterfront views, sunny climes, and historic charm make it the perfect place to time outdoors. So what’s on offer in the city this season?
Tour By Trolley
Sure, Annapolis’ Main Street may be a bustling hub of shopping and dining, but there’s plenty to see off the city’s beaten path. Hop aboard a cute trolley, which will take you trundling past some of Annapolis’ prettiest and most historic buildings, landmarks, and natural attractions. At around an hour, this activity involves minimal commitment and plenty to see along the way.
Make Your Watermark
Not much of a landlubber but still want to see the sights? No problem – you can just as easily book a harbor cruise with Watermark and experience an unforgettable journey across the waves. You can choose between various packages, which can take you down the Severn River, under the Chesapeake Bay bridges, or all the way to Thomas Point Lighthouse. There’s even a sunset cruise available, where you can enjoy the vivid, colorful views as the sun goes down over the water.
Naval Academy
If you have even a passing interest in life at sea, the United States Naval Academy is a must-visit landmark. On the streets of Annapolis, you can frequently find neatly uniformed midshipmen strolling among the laypeople—but the USNA is their home base, and it’s where navy members have been trained for service since 1845! Take a guided tour, or wander around and enjoy the scenery by yourself. On the base, you can check out the Naval Museum, the Memorial Stadium, the visitor center, and the chapel. You can even see the crypt of the legendary naval commander John Paul Jones. Spooky!
Arts & History
Annapolis is the proud home of a vibrant arts community, which is why you can find countless art galleries, exhibits, and outdoor displays peppered throughout the city. But if you’re looking for something a little more factual, you can also enjoy one of Annapolis’ many museums. After all, the city was a stronghold of the Revolutionary War, and there’s history everywhere you look. Okay, yes, the Naval Academy is technically a museum, but it’s so integral to Annapolis culture that we think it deserves its own bullet point!
