At My Annapolis Office, we take pride in creating meaningful relationships with each and every one of our members. This month we are highlighting Dave Minifie of MinifiesTake, LLC. Continue reading to learn about his amazing company.
Tell us about your company and what you do?
I educate, advise, and collaborate with clients to unleash long-term growth potential by focusing on key foundational elements. My process helps clients articulate their Purpose (WHY they exist) and Mission (WHAT they do) statements, along with core organizational beliefs. This informs business strategy, brand strategy, organizational design, and culture.
How did you get started in your industry?
After serving in the US Marine Corps for over six years, I joined the Procter & Gamble Company in the Brand Management function. I worked on brands like Charmin, Puffs, Duracell, Eukanuba, and Iams. From there, I joined Centene Corporation, a national managed care organization focused on serving underserved populations. Through those experiences I learned the importance of Purpose, its impact on Culture, and how together those drive sustainable business results.
What is something about your business that most people do not know?
I’m insatiably curious, so if you want to have a conversation about anything, please let me know. I’ve had the opportunity to work with clients in professional sports, in fast-casual dining, in financial services, and in the non-profit world. Every organization is perfectly designed to deliver the results it does, so I have an intense interest in helping people create a new paradigm to get better, more sustainable results. Also, I eat lunch every day and am happy to join you for yours.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
In five years, I’d love to be sitting in a place where we’ve created a movement around using Purpose to make organizations that matter. If we do that right, not only will my business flourish, but businesses and their employees will have helped create a better world.
Tell me more about yourself.
My senior prom date and I dated all four of my years at USNA (’93) and our hard work and good “luck” has seen us married for 27 years. Our daughter is a senior at William & Mary, and our son is a 3/C Midshipman at USNA (’24). We now live in historic downtown Annapolis, but spent 20 years in the Midwest, in Cincinnati, OH, and St. Louis, MO. We grew up in Connecticut, so you can guess our sports team allegiance.
Other than work, what are you passionate about?
I love to learn. I always stay alert for the next good book or podcast to help me grow in different areas. Our family also loves the outdoors, with particular interest in National Parks. Continuing the outdoors theme, I greatly enjoy flyfishing.
What is your favorite place to eat in Annapolis? Favorite dish there?
Since my time at the Academy, we have enjoyed McGarvey’s, Federal House (nee, Griffins), and Harry Browne’s. We also love Boatyard Bar & Grill in Eastport. Our top date night spot, though, is Vin 909. Their menu rotates with the seasons, and this includes their pizzas and wine and beer selection. Be sure to show up early on popular nights because it fills up fast!
Why did you choose My Annapolis Office and how has working here helped your business?
I just couldn’t work in the dining room anymore! I needed my own space so I could be continuously productive for hours at a time, and have the ability to take and make calls and Zoom appearances without barking dogs running around.
