Tell us about your company and what you do.
B.L. Academic Services, LLC was founded to foster strong academic skills in reading comprehension, written communication, and mathematics through tutoring, specifically aimed at elementary school students. Our services extend to offering Basic Skills Development Classes during the academic school year and during the summer to provide reinforcement of foundational skills to elementary students. B. L. Academic Services, LLC offers academic support for students with special needs entering college as well as employment search support for young adults entering college. Our educational consulting services also provide advice to parents and students as it relates to educational and academic needs which include instructional and curriculum guidance to help with special education needs as well as helping develop academic goals.
What motivates you at work?
I believe that cultivating academically strong students can be achieved by providing a firm academic foundation early on in their academic careers. As an educator, I am motivated when I see the progress that students can make when given academic assistance. Such assistance enables students to excel to their highest potential.
What advice would you give to other businesses?
I am still in the process of building my business. As I continue this journey, I look at the steps other successful business owners have taken to grow their businesses. I then see which of those steps I can apply to grow my business. I’ve sought the advice and guidance of a business coach who has provided me with the motivation to implement strategies I can use towards prioritizing my business goals. Most importantly, I pray and ask God for guidance, discernment, and wisdom so that the work that I do impacts the lives of those I am trying to help.
Why did you choose My Annapolis Office?
I had been in search of office space that I could utilize to host an adult fundamental writing seminar. After some searching, my husband came across My Annapolis Office and sent me their information. I reviewed the website and was impressed with the professional atmosphere of the facility, the cost to rent office space, and the convenient location. I called and made an appointment to visit the office. I met with Brittney Gist and Jessica Nelker who made me feel very comfortable and answered all my questions and concerns. It was at that point I made the decision to rent office space from My Annapolis Office.
How has working here helped you and your business?
Being able to list the address of My Annapolis Office as the venue where I will host the adult fundamental writing seminar has given me a sense of legitimacy. I feel that when people see that I have an actual address that is of repute, my business is taken seriously. I hope to continue to rent office space from My Annapolis Office to further my future business endeavors.
