It’s no secret that getting involved in your community can boost your business’ profile. Choosing which organizations to work with can be daunting at times. The best rule of thumb is to stick to what you know. Either choose something related to your industry or find a cause that is close to your heart. We have some suggestions for great organizations and ways to socialize in the Annapolis community.
Join the New Annapolitans
This unique social club gives new Annapolis residents an opportunity to meet others in the community and learn more about all the ways that one can be involved in the community. With more than 600 members there is an enormous membership base to whom you and your small business can be exposed. Members of this group are exceptionally local-oriented and love supporting local, small businesses. The group holds monthly meetings at which they present an entertaining program for its members.
Go on a Weekly Group Run with Fleet Feet
If you are a runner, you know they best way to interact and network with other runners is, well, by running. Social outings like running which are very public events are an excellent way to spread the word about your small business and the services you offer. Get a company t-shirt made to run in and spark conversation about your business without even saying a word. Fleet feet has a wide variety of runs and other community events around Annapolis like their pub run series, yoga for runners and more. Running, as well as cycling groups, form very tight-knit crews and work hard to support one another in the community. What better partners could one ask for?
Become a Member of Club Crabtowne
This ultra-active group is billed as a ski, sports and event club. However, this group is not limited to only outdoor activities. You’re just as likely to find a bridge game or quiet walk by the water as a bowling game or hike. Many of the members are long-time Annapolis residents who could impart very helpful information based on their experience around the city. The variety of events gives an opportunity to reach out to people interested in different activities and have differing perspectives on the city. There is a membership application on their Meetup page, as well as an option to host or sponsor your own event, which could be the ideal opportunity to share your brand with others in the community.
Participate in the Annapolis and Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce
The optimal place for B2B interaction with other community-minded businesses in and around Annapolis is the Chamber of Commerce. The chamber has its fingers on the pulse of everything going on in the community and the city. The key to any organization, particularly a chamber of commerce is participation! Make sure if you join that you go to luncheons, meetings and other events. Just putting your name on the website won’t get you very far at all.
There is no shortage of fun and beneficial ways for you and your small business to take part in the Annapolis community and get in front of other businesses, as well as community members. Look to sites like Meetup to find even more options! Ensure that whatever you do, it is something that you will take part in on a regular basis. The only thing worse than not getting involved at all is saying you’re going to get involved and then not showing up.
