Client Feature: Lisa Maholchic of Windward Therapy, LLC
At My Annapolis Office, we love spotlighting amazing members doing meaningful work. This month, we’re highlighting Lisa Maholchic of Windward Therapy, LLC—a trusted family therapist in Annapolis and a passionate advocate for personal growth and mental wellness.
Tell us about your company and what you do?
My Windward Therapy is a sole proprietorship that offers outpatient psychotherapy services for individuals, couples, and families. I focus on a person-centered therapy model and work primarily with adolescents and adults—serving as a dedicated family counselor in Annapolis who values connection and individualized care.
How did you get started in your industry?
I’ve always been passionate about helping others. After working for a nonprofit focused on youth-adult partnerships and community development, I realized my purpose was to engage with people on a more personal level. I pursued my MSW at the University of Maryland’s School of Social Work, then gained experience in social services, foster care, and mental health clinics.
Ultimately, I launched Windward Therapy to help individuals recognize and overcome obstacles impacting their well-being. My goal is to guide clients toward clarity, peace, and long-term emotional health.
Inside My Windward Therapy Philosophy
What is something about your business that most people do not know?
Sailing inspired my practice’s name. Just as you can’t change the wind, therapy helps people adjust their sails—changing behavior and perspective to move forward. That’s the philosophy behind My Windward.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
I see it growing in both client volume and range of services. My goal is to expand Windward Therapy’s reach as a top resource for anyone seeking a compassionate family therapist in Annapolis.
Tell me about yourself?
I grew up in South Jersey and moved to Annapolis after marrying my husband. We have two children and a very large German Shepherd. I’m happiest outdoors—be it the beach, the mountains, or relaxing on the porch with loved ones.
Other than work, what are you passionate about?
Friendships.
What is your favorite place to eat in Annapolis? Favorite dish there?
Probably a crabcake from Boatyard!
Why did you choose My Annapolis Office and how has working here helped your business?
I chose My Annapolis Office because I needed a temporary space while transitioning from virtual to in-person sessions. It’s been a perfect solution—budget-friendly, accessible, and equipped for my therapy practice.
