This month we decided to do something a little different. Instead of getting to know one of our fantastic members, we thought it would be fun to learn more about our newest General Manager at My Annapolis Office, Brittney Gist.
Recently, we sat down with Brittney who is excited about her new position here at My Annapolis Office to learn what she does in her free time, her passions, why she joined our team and the best advice she has received.
What is something that you are looking forward to in 2020?
Well, I will be getting married on August 8th, 2020, and like all brides I am super excited for that. I also have a few friends who are beginning this new chapter in their life as well, so I am looking forward to not only sharing my happiness but theirs as well. I also have a couple trips planned, and we all know with marriage comes a honeymoon, so that should be exciting!
What are you currently watching on Netflix or Television?
Currently I am re-watching Dexter on Netflix. I actually wouldn’t consider myself a big TV person, but if I had to sit and watch TV, I would choose a True Story or Documentary over anything else.
What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
My secret talent is that I can drive a boat.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to travel, boat, eat steamed crabs, complete jigsaw puzzles, go to the beach or spend any type of time on the water, and spend time with my family.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about helping people who are struggling. Whether it be financially, mentally, with their health, family, etc. You just never know what obstacles you can help someone defeat, especially when they feel defeated.
What energizes you at work? What drains you?
Talking with the members at work energizes me because it is exciting to learn about what each and every member does every single day that differentiates them from others. So far nothing has drained me, but its only my 3rd week so maybe in a couple months you could check back with me and I could answer that question.
Why did you decide to join the team at My Annapolis Office?
I decided to join the team because I was looking to get out of management of multi-family and into commercial management. When I interviewed, I realized that the business here was very organized and more “family oriented” than just “coworker oriented”, that is what made me decide to accept the position.
Where were you employed previously before My Annapolis Office?
Before I began at My Annapolis Office I worked in multi-family for 7 years. I was Property Manager at a 199-unit complex in Columbia, MD, and prior to that I was Property Manager at a 400-unit complex in Silver Spring.
What was the most interesting job you’ve ever had?
When I was attending college at Coastal Carolina University, I worked at Margaritaville for 5 years in Myrtle Beach. It was a blast! I loved the environment at Margaritaville. We had stilt walkers, live music, and I worked with over 100 people. I was promoted to a traveling trainer within my first year there and was sent all over the world to places such as Australia, Mississippi, Jamaica, and Tennessee to help train staff at the new restaurants.
