Life coach and energy healer Roxana Jones said, “your body, mind and soul were designed to act as one. Connect the three and you will align with the life of your dreams.” To explore this connection, we sat down with our members, Isabella Scapini-Burrell & Michael Burrell of Renewed Pathways, to learn more about their practice and why they chose My Annapolis Office.
What can you tell us about your company and your background?
Renewed Pathways is a comprehensive Psychotherapy and Wellness practice. We help clients regain their health through psychotherapy and movement-based healing.
(Isabella) I’m a psychotherapist and dance/movement therapist, licensed in NY and MD, with 20+ years of experience. My early work took place in NYC hospitals and clinics. Since 2012, I’ve been in private practice in Annapolis, working with clients across a broad range of areas including trauma, addiction, anxiety disorders, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
(Michael) I have studied Chinese medicine, martial arts, and meditation for decades. I’ve also worked with subtle energy in people and environments to help restore health. My approach integrates physical, emotional, and spiritual healing to foster holistic growth.
How did you get started in mental health?
(Isabella) My journey began as a ballet dancer. After retiring, I pursued studies connecting the body and mind, with a focus on trauma and healing in both children and adults.
(Michael) My early career was in corporate leadership in the US and Europe. Eventually, I shifted to guiding others through intuitive decision-making and physical-emotional healing. Now, I help clients reconnect with their bodies as a source of strength—shifting their view from pain to growth.
What is something about your philosophy that most people do not know?
Despite our different backgrounds, our methods at Renewed Pathways are deeply complementary. We center the healing process on body-mind communication. My movement sessions, while not instructional, guide clients toward self-discovery and physical relief.
Where do you see your practice in 5 years?
We plan to expand our reach and continue serving a diverse client base seeking mental and physical healing.
(Isabella) I want to present more work to psychoanalytic communities and the general public.
(Michael Burrell) I plan to write and teach about my movement methodology to help others tap into the limitless potential of the body and mind.
How did you meet?
(Isabella) We met in a college religion class—Michael calls it “many, many moons ago.” We connected over classical music, walks, and a love for dance (mostly mine!).
What are you passionate about outside your work?
We’re passionate about family, social justice, and helping youth navigate identity and purpose. We value compassion and making a difference.
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
(Isabella) I volunteer teaching ballet and at a Buddhist center in Annapolis.
(Michael) I enjoy biking, gardening, and meaningful conversations with our kids.
What’s your favorite place to eat in Annapolis?
We love dining at Royal Karma Annapolis—especially the Panak Paneer, Tandoori Vegetables, and Mango Lassi.
Why did you choose My Annapolis Office?
We started leasing at My Annapolis Office in 2015. The environment is quiet, private, and professional—ideal for our therapy practice. We’ve formed meaningful connections with attorneys, therapists, and entrepreneurs here.
The office provides a secure space where our clients feel welcomed and respected. We’re grateful for the kind support Jessica and Adriana offer.
Is there anything new you’d like to share?
We’re building a new website for Renewed Pathways, launching in early August, to provide expanded information on our services and philosophy.
We’re also planning an open house at My Annapolis Office around mid-August. We’d love to meet you and answer your questions about our practice.
If you are interested in more information about the Open House, please give them a call at 301-706.9560. To learn more about Isabella or schedule an appointment, please visit Psychology Today and Good Therapy.
