Mark Twain once said, “Buy land, they’re not making it anymore”. That seems like pretty simple advice but knowing where to start can be daunting. When buying or selling a home, the first thing you should do is seek help from an expert.
We are lucky enough to have not one, but three of those experts right here at My Annapolis Office. This month we sat down with Petra Quinn, Lisa Longest and Vincent Payne to learn more about their company, Realty Navigator, their background and what they do when not helping Maryland residents navigate through the housing market.
Tell us about your company and what you do?
At Realty Navigator we design a custom real estate transaction based on the client’s, and property’s unique needs and standards.
Petra: I am a licensed realtor and the broker at Realty Navigator. I specialize in listing and selling residential Real Estate. I am a member of the MidShore Board of Realtors as well as both the Maryland Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.
Vince: I am a licensed realtor and specialize in representing my clients in the purchase and sale of single-family residences and income property within Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, Talbot, and Queen Anne’s County.
Lisa: I am an award-winning full-time realtor in the Stevensville and Annapolis area for over 14 years. I work with people to help them better the lifestyle they want. I also help them make decisions that will change their lives for the better.
How did you get started in your industry?
Petra: My ex-husband and I searched for our personal home for 5 years! He’s an engineer, so I received an extensive apprenticeship in real estate throughout that time. After we settled, I decided to get my own license and have been active in real estate for over 15 years.
Lisa: I was working in a medical office but was looking for another line of work for my husband. I suggested real estate for him, but he didn’t know if he would like it. I decided I would take the real estate course and I would know by that course whether he would like it or not. I fell in love with it myself and switched careers.
Vince: I come from a multi-generational realtor family. I started working for a title company and helping my mother with her business. In in 1999 I decided it was the right time to leave the corporate world and work real estate full time.
What is something about your business that most people do not know?
Realty Navigator is an independent brokerage with the same broad reach of any cookie-cutter “big-box” label, with hands-on agents, who individually plan, develop and implement marketing and selling strategies for your personal transaction. We also do have a very knowledgeable Land & Farm Division as well, Vince is the President.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
We would like to welcome more experienced agents and grow at a controlled pace. Our company will be a go-to name in the local real estate market.
Tell me about yourself?
Petra: I was born and raised in Germany. After I married my husband, we came back to Maryland where we reside with our 3 kids on the beautiful Eastern Shore in Stevensville MD. My philosophy is simple: clients come first. I pledge to be in constant communication with my clients, keeping them fully informed throughout the entire buying or selling process. I believe that if you’re not left with an amazing experience, I have not done my job. I don’t measure success through achievements or awards but through the satisfaction of my clients.
Vincent: I am an Annapolis native, raised in the local area of Upper Marlboro. Growing up, I was always involved with extra-curricular activities through school and church. I graduated from Bishop McNamara High School and later graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Business Management and Accounting. I truly love working with clients and pride myself on my knowledge of overall market trends, local and area-specific trends, clients with specific work, school district, and transportation needs, current and future neighborhood growth and community needs, and related services, including mortgage, insurance, and client’s vendor needs.
Lisa: I grew up and graduated in Severna Park and moved with my family to Kent Island on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. I believe that being a realtor is about more than joining professional associations. I believe realtors should be involved in the communities they work in as well. I have served my local community in many capacities such as having an active part in Relay for Life and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
Other than work, what are you passionate about?
Petra, Vince, and Lisa are all passionate about their families, the local environment, and their communities.
What types of activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
Petra: I enjoy boating, crabbing, and fishing on Kent Island and watching the kids play sports.
Vince: My current hobbies include spending time with my family, traveling, and volunteering with various youth programs and organizations.
Lisa: In my free time I enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, crabbing, line dancing, gardening, canning, reading, board and card games.
