Each month at My Annapolis Office we get the pleasure of sitting down with one of our valued members to discover more about them and what makes their business and services unique. Continue reading about Melissa Lynch to find out more about her rehabilitation program, Linmar Leadership, and her passion for healing and positively impacting the local community.
- Tell us about your company and what you do?
Linmar Leadership LLC is a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program that focuses on “Healing tomorrow’s leaders, today” by assisting individuals with psychiatric disabilities to increase their success and satisfaction in the roles and environments of their choice. Using a strength-based approach, participants are invited to explore the roles that are important to them in their living, learning, working, and socializing environments. We believe healing is a collaborative endeavor that is made possible by having a safe space to be ourselves, to find friends, family and peers who know and understand our experiences; it’s nurtured when our voices are heard, and we get to speak our stories of courage and resilience and learn to manage our emotions. This reflects our commitment to providing meaningful supports to help our clients find success in communities of their own choice.
- How did you get started in your industry?
Linmar Leadership was launched in 2021 after I identified the need to create a rehabilitation program that could provide innovative interventions to improve the quality of life for persons who have been diagnosed with any mental health condition(s) that seriously impairs their ability to lead meaningful lives. Linmar Leadership provides a wide range of community integration and community support services in Anne Arundel and the surrounding counties. My interest in mental health and the well-being of others stems from my desire to foster an improved quality of life for all persons who have been diagnosed with any mental health conditions.
- What is something about your business that most people do not know?
Linmar Leadership is CARF and COMAR accredited PRP Behavior Health company that will complement most behavioral health agencies to assist with their client load, as well as all qualified students, youth, and adults in the community who are currently working with a therapist and receiving Medicaid benefits. Linmar Leadership is a minority, women-owned business that works diligently to support the most vulnerable clients in our community and focuses on a strength-based approach to ensure each delivered service is person-centered and result-oriented. We pride ourselves on meeting our clients where they are — inclusive of churches, schools, etc. We are also available to assist with community events.
- Where do you see your business in 5 years?
I see Linmar Leadership as the go-to psychiatric rehabilitation program diligently servicing Anne Arundel and surrounding counties. Our core focus is our clients and providing the tools and resources to ensure their capacity to be successful and satisfied in areas of their lives such as their living environment, employment, learning and vocational settings, and social and leisure activities. I’d also like to continue building relationships with complementary agencies/companies to gain prosperous collaborative opportunities to work together and serve this wonderful community!
- Tell me about yourself?
I lived in Maryland my entire life — my adolescent years were spent in Baltimore City and in Harford County as an adult. I love the beautiful state of Maryland and do my best to explore as much as possible — hence my desire to work in Annapolis. For over 20 years I have worked in the health and wellness industry.
- Other than work, what are you passionate about?
Spending time with my family! I’m so blessed to reside near my entire family, everyday feels like a holiday as I’m always surrounded with so much love. I am a mother to four children — three daughters and one son and we enjoy sharing tons of quality time together. However, when I’m not enjoying laughter over food, I’m reading autobiographies, spending time with my family, educating myself regarding health and wellness, honing in on my skills as a life coach, improving my cosmetics artistry, and taking long walks with friends.
- What types of activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
I grew up in a large family, so cooking is very nostalgic for me and always a go-to for daily fun! I also enjoy art projects and making facial creams, body lotions and perfumes.
- What is your favorite place to eat in Annapolis? Favorite dish there?
Maggiano’s Little Italy is a sure win for me! I’ve always appreciated classic Italian cuisine. The delectable Mushroom Ravioli al Forno is always a delight!
- Why did you choose My Annapolis Office and how has working here helped your business?
The wonderful hospitality! I was desperately seeking a kind and positive office to spend my days in but struggled to find the perfect fit. After many months of vetting other offices and locations, I finally found a “work home” that fits all my needs and has the most caring staff with warm smiling faces.
